These Friends of Mine
lan Tyson

These friends of (F)mine we shared some good times to-(Bb)gether
Days of (Gm)sunshine, days of (C)rain
Many (F)jobs and many towns we worked and (Bb)never
Cared if (Gm)we saw the same towns a-(C)gain
Then one (F)day we weren't as young as be-(Bb)fore
Our mis-(F)takes weren't quite so (Am)easy to un-(Gm)do (C7)
But by (F)all those roads my friends we traveled (Bb)down
I'm a better (F)man for just a-(Bb)know-(C)in' (F)you

These friends of mine they never cared about tomorrow
It was too early in the game
They'd stay awhile until the day they'd get to wondering
If the far side of the hill looked the same
And they settled down somewhere along the way
And some went wrong as some men do
But by all those roads my friends we traveled down
I'm a better man for just a-knowin' you

"putting the voices on separate sides"
Pure left and right was pretty common in the early days of stereo LPs. I recall one of Ian & Sylvia's early albums not listing 'lead & rhythm guitar' in the credits, but rather 'left & right guitar'. Chuckled then; chuckle now.
