NOT Ainwick, but Alnwick, pronounced "Annick". County Town of Northumberland and seat of the Percy Family, it lies on the River Aln astride the main road from London to Edinburgh (or did before the by-pass was built!) Very attractive town with many ancient buildings. Also home to Barter Books, one of the largest second hand book shops in the North of England. Bob
