I think it would be easier for a *friend* who isn't too close, as ClaireBear said, than those closest, to record her family history or singing, whatever she feels up to. I would find it too emotional and energy-sapping to have family trying to get anything like that done if I were close to passing over, unless I were a very old lady and ready to get on with it!:-)
