When I came on here and saw people talking about tent caterpillars, I immediately thought of what happened the last time I went camping, in April. Hundreds of furry caterpillars crawled up into the spaces between the inner tent and the fly, and even though I tried to pick a lot of them off when I was packing up, I found a lot more when I got home. I had to spread the tent and the fly out and inspect every little nook and cranny to find most of them. Even then I missed a few. Some of the ones I found a couple of weeks later looked as if they were starting to pupate. They were all still alive. Ugghh!

Of course, after following the links and the conversation here, I realised your tent caterpillars make a little 'tent' of their own. Funnily enough though, my caterpillars look a lot like them.
