Not edible I should think but I'm curious about something that appears to be in the fungus family.
It grows in clusters of 8 or so 'fingers', standing upright in dampish ground. A dusty purple violet in color, these fingers are about the thickness of one's little finger but about half again as tall. They look membraneous, as though they would 'weep' if held in the hand.
