Thread Name: Lyr Req: Irish Wedding Song
Subject: RE: REQ: Irish Wedding Song
There are at least two "Carrickferus'"
My comments were on the 18th century tune "Carrick Fergus". Since this thread was started I got ABC's of two versions of 1768 from a correspondent in Edingburgh, and posted them to the Irish music list.

Stephanie Conn posted part of the more modern "Carrickfergus" on the Scots-l list yesterday, giving it the dual title 'Carrickfergus/ The Water is Wide'. Note that part of the song is related to "The Water is wide" (which can't really be separated from "Waly waly").
