I received an surprise external hard drive over the weekend that we have needed for the home computer for some time; it comes at the same time we're making decisions on what will be stored in the folded-down camper to await next year's vacation and what will stay in the house.

We use the porch as a sort of staging area for the comings and goings of the various items. No surprise-- some of the items turn out to be rank discards, since having one of an item in the house and another one in the camper is clearly "enough" so that I can toss crap in bad shape.


This thread, in a way, has sparked imagery of that external hard drive as a "camper" full of things I will be happy to see in due course that I do not need to trip over in my main area of activity. And the flash drive I also received (last May) is, in effect, a porch where things come and go, sit and visit for a time, and then either go home or join the "family."


It's not so much that I'm anthropomorphizing my electronics, as that the decisions processes involving 3D items came with some difficulty-- (what to do? which choice is best?) but that the decision process over the digital files seems to be going so much better since I'm applying what I first learned about our camping stuff.


Both my brain and my CPU are working so much better as a result! :~)
