Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Very Thought of You (Ray Noble)
Subject: RE: The Very Thought Of You
Sort of Joe - that's the well known part first brought to prominence by Al Bowlly and the Ray Noble Orchestra in 1934. But it's the more recently composed prelude that I'm really chasing as sung by Norma Waterson, probably on one of her recent solo albums. The first half of the song is a re-enactment of being there when Bowlly performed (I don't know how well he was known outside of UK and Australia) before Norma does a lovely version of The Very Thought Of You. As I recell Bowlly's signature tune was Goodnight Sweetheart. Thanks for the lyrics Joe; we're half way there. Regards, John
