I've been ruminating lately on how patches of nothingness can form and endure. That's because I have read two books on severe tornadoes. It baffles me how a tornado, which is a moving column of extremely low pressure surrounded by whirling winds, can form and travel.

Now in space we see a huge area of emptiness which ought not to be there.
