In the lesser known folk world here in the UK Jim McAdams and Hilary Ward - both 'catters themselves have stirred me to tears with expressive singing that really stirs the emotions. George Papavgeris also has the ability to put his whole being into a song and boy, it is magical. There are in my opinion a lot of lesser known singers who beat the lists already given hands down. for me a great singer is not one with a nice voice, but one who gives themselves to the song and makes you believe it.
