Thread Name: (Oakville, Ont) White Oak Folk Reunion
Subject: (Oakville, Ont) White Oak Folk Reunion
It was my privilege to be involved with the founding of the White Oak Folk Club. Although its activities have ceased (or, more accurately, melded into other forms, including the Moonshine Café) its influence continues. There's a reunion happening. Here's the announcement from primary founder Paul Young:

In September of 1997, with the help and support of a lot of people, The White Oak Folk Club was born. On September 9, 2007, John Marlatt and The Moonshine Café have offered to host a 10th anniversary reunion. It will be a format of standard open stage and extended sets, commencing at 2 in the afternoon and running as long as there are people to listen, although I suspect it will end up in a jam session until the wee hours.

When we started we had the help and support of a lot of people from The Brantford, Black Walnut (Kitchener), Caledonia and Hamilton Folk Clubs. Almost immediately we picked up a lot of local support and that continues to grow to this day, with the Moonshine Café and the Oakville Song Circle, hosted by the Toms Miller.

We invite all supporters and performers to join us for the day. If you
are interested in doing an extended set or just performing, please email me in advance so that we can fit everyone in. This is especially
important if you have a preferred time to perform. As always, there will be a sound technician available at all times. There will also be a buffet dinner served and the Moonshine will have it's usual menu available.

I hope to see as many of you there as possible.

Best Regards Always

Paul Young
