Tests on brain scans that show the amount of myelin sheath laid down on the nerves in the brain have shown that about 3,000 hours practice gets one to about the standard of being accepted for entry to 'an advanced school of music' - 10,000 hours gets you to about the standard of a classical music soloist.... :-)
