Huh...when my wife was Assistant General Counsel at a noted US University, a lawsuit was filed which said, in essence, since the University accepted my kid it owes him a degree, no matter that he had a flat grade point average of 0.1 in his first semester and 0.0 in his second (on a 4.0 point scale). This was filed three (3) times in court; on the third it was summarily dismissed "with prejudice."
