I first heard this little ditty at a place called "Mickie Finn's" in San Diego, CA, in about 1968 or '69, by a great local saxophone player (and commercial photographer) with the unlikely name of "Birdie" Carter. When you see him, you know why he has the nickname. I know he had played in New Orleans and other areas, probably picking up the material somewhere along the way. He only did the first verse, as I recall. It's great to see the others. He is still around the area. I'll have to try and learn his source.
