The Big lad had a terrific send off. Over 200 people made it to the crematorium, The Shellbacks and nearly everybody raised the roof. The Jacobs Join meant everyone had plenty to eat and the cash collection in Colin's memory raised £215 for the RNLI. Shellbacks scheduled to sing at Great Yarmouth had to leave the New Palatine Club early. Colins Mother joined us at 3.00pm and stayed for over two hours. By mobile phone Albuwood liased with others and provided two verses and a chorus a play on the Keith Marsden song "She wheeled the coffin down the aisle with two verses completed two more versespenned whilst still on route were too late to be sung by Theresa who with a little help, quickly taught the chorus which was sung lustily to the enjoyment of Col's Mum

"They came from near they came from far, they filled up every pew,
Because he was a steward and his mother never knew_
How much this Yorkshire Lad was loved, from Brighton to Dundee.
And they brought a lot of food with them so they could have some tea"
Thanks to the wonders of Mudcat, the speed of spreading the news meant that a sad day ended in a tremendous send off.
