Thread Name: Scots Music List & IRTRAD ?
Subject: RE: Scots Music List & IRTRAD ?
First let me tell you a little about what you are getting into. All postings to the list come into your e-mail inbox. Probably few will prove of any interest. SCOTS-L has gotten better recently, only one long series on whether Scots should be called Scotch, and a few recipies, with many comments on variations. Some actual questions and answers on Scots music and songs, even. I think the server is is in U.S. My subscription to this somehow got fouled up, so I hope Timothy J. will tell you how to do it right. I never got the instruction file, so when a posting came through I had to e-mail a member on the list (someone I knew) list how to post to it.

IRTRAD-L server is in Ireland, so you may have some long distance phone charges. There have been as many as 60 per day, so it takes a fair amount of time each day to inspect what you've got and see what's interesting and worth saving. A few intemperate individuals have been thrown off the list. A bit of nonsence show up here, too. Also every once in a while some advertiser figures out how to post some SPAM on the list. If you still wish to go on:

Send to IRTRAD-L SERVER [no subject, message:]

sub IRTRAD-L Your Name (as you wish it to appear)

You name and e-mail address will appear on all your postings. You will be sent instructions on how you are to confirm your subscription. After acceptance to the list you will get a file telling you how to post, get a digest of postings, and other matters. Both, incidently, are free. You can't be anonymous on either list.
