Further to BanjoRay's comments. I too have a fiddle fretted by our mutual friend. I also have an unfretted one. The fretted one has its uses and may well be helpful to learners. However, as a mandolin player I had hoped it would be of more use to me but the scale length is slightly different and my finers don't go down as accurately as I would like. Interesting though.
