I'd recommend staying somewhere in the South City centre. If it's music you're after the Jurys Inn hotels are quite economical and centrally located, for example the one at Christ Church is close to the city centre and also within walking distance of some folk venues such as the Brazen Head, the Cobblestone, Vicar Street, Hugh's, O'Shea's and the lesser-known Pale and Nash's where I play myself.

There are two hotels in Smithfield, the Park Inn and the Comfort Inn, which is also close to the above-mentioned venues.

I don't know of any flats, but I'm sure there must be some available.
