This week my coven celebrates the Day of the Awakening, the first in a cycle of rituals known as The Book of the Provider. Like Easter (itself descended from an ancient festival dedicated to the Teutonic goddess of Spring, Oestre), it falls in the calendar corresponding to the the first new moon after the vernal equinox. This ritual cycle culminates near Samhain with Harvest Home, and in between their of Rites of Sowing, Rites of Good Gathering, Rites of Seasoning, etc etc.
