I heard the news last night a story of a young lad who had drowned in a pond, Police Community Support officers had not assisted members of the public in the water as they were not "TRAINED"in water rescue.
If the officers were alone, i could understand why they didnt, but people were in the water looking for this kid, they summoned the emergency services, but surely in a case like this its all hands to the deck, not being "TRAINED" is just a pathetic excuse.... perhaps they were just scared of breaching health and safety laws... the worlds gone mad, everyone know theyre rights, no one knows theyre responsibilities. I feel sorry for the parents, but i also feel sorry for the officers, they have to live theyre whole lives wondering if they could have made a difference.
