I remember seeing Ned Sherrin and Caryl Brahms 'Benbow' as a very young teenager. Robin Hall and Jimmie Macgregor were the 'narrators', interspersing the story of Benbow's rise through the ranks from working class sailor to Admiral with verses from the song. It was a really imaginative and engaging production - wonder if the BBC would even consider something like that now?
