Just came down from Newcastle back to Manchester via A1/M1/M62 and, as usual, Leeds was absolutely shite - Tail to tail all the the way from Weatherby to past Bradford. Added an hour to the journey. 3.5 hours - A69, M6, M61 usualy takes 3 although it is 50 miles longer!

Dick is right of course - Using public transport is better but have you seen the daft things that happen on the railways? Look it up yourself, Going from Manchester to Newcastle via London is half the price of the direct route. Honestly! You have to but the tickets seperately but it does work believe it or not.
