Every morning, when my colleague came in to work, he would find me at my computer. One morning, he came in to find me desperately trying to do paperwork close to the window, in the dark. I told him there was no power and that neither the lights nor computers would work.

"I can sort that for you," he said, and marched off for a couple of minutes, returning with...... an anglepoise lamp! This, ear in mind, is a lecturer in electrical engineering!

On another occasion, I had to catch him, literally, as he discovered changing a fluorescent tube is not wise standing on a swivel chair on wheels.
