Brass Monkey Godalming Borough Hall, Bridge Street Godalming GU2 7NX Friday, 19th October 2007 - 8.oo pm (Doors open 7.30 pm, and evening finishes at 10.30pm)
Twenty five years after the creation of the band Brass Monkey, its sound is still unique - the jaunty, driving rhythms of Martin Carthy's guitar and mandolin, John Kirkpatrick's squeezeboxes and Martin Brinsford's side drum and percussion, all raised to a higher level by the fanfare and fire of the brass.
The band have been off the road since the start of the illness that eventually lead to the early death of much-loved trumpeter Howard Evans but, in recognition of the fact that Howard is irreplaceable, they are now back as a four-piece to perform the music he inspired.
So, with original band member Roger Williams on trombone and Martin B on saxophone, plus the legendary vocal talents of John K and Martin C, Electric Voices are delighted to see Brass Monkey gigging once again and to have them in concert at Godalming.
