Ah, hindsight...

This was our first house, and I do love it, but if we ever buy or build another, or renovate this one...

There will be no bathroom directly off the main living area.
There will be no Galley style kitchen, and no 'kitchen island', either, just a nice open kitchen.
No bathtub will be placed under a roofslant, especially with the plumbing at the wrong end. Ditto closets.
There will be a basement.
Door and window placement will be carefully considered. Whoever designed this place made it devoid of stretches of walls without doors, baseboard heaters, propane fireplaces, closets, against which one might place couches, beds, large bureaus.
There will be a window over the kitchen sink, dammit.

And so on...
