Thread Name: Lyr Req: The Knocker-Upper Man (Mike Canavan)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: The Knocker-Upper Man
I found this fragment whilst searching a Lancashire genealogy site. The person remembers it being sung by her father:
"Every morning at 'alf past five Thowt knocker-up comes round Tic, tic, tic, wi' a big long stick When I were sleeping sound And if it weren't for the little bit 'o brass I had to earn To keep myself alive I'd se'at yon man at the bottom o' th' pit 'Fore I'd wake up at 'alf past five!"
