The Spailpin Fanach is a bit of an insitution. It's a meandering pub with lots of little seats but it's not a huge superpub. Atmosphere is good and relaxed and it's just a good spot for a few pints or if you're witha group.

I really like this pub. There's nooks and crannys everywhere to have a nice quiet pint with a small group. For tourists it's probably the best place to go for some real trad sessions in the city. I've never really paid that much attention to the service but the atmosphere must make up for it. As for the signs about not drinking at the bar at night: possibly the best idea anyone has ever had. It makes it so much easier to get served.

The Spailpin is the first port of call for me whenever I go to Cork and the reason it is such a favourite to me is because of the service! If anything I have found the staff too helpful giving me ideas for places to visit and by the time they've finished it's too late to go anywhere. The food is top class and the music fantastic. A really friendly pub with loads of atmosphere
