There is no deep need out here. The media and those that are in control want us to believe that there is. They want us to beleive that those with the power and the money are close akin with god. They have been brainwashing us for centuries, for millenia into thinking they are all powerful, that our problems are of no concern, that our problems are small compared to theirs. And as long as the media continues to focus on a few tragedies, they will continue to feed us the lie that we are not what is important, that we exist only to serve their needs, that we are mindless creatures with no thoughts of our own.
