Had a great time in Lancaster.

I met Cyril Tawney for the first time in 20 years. He sang towards the end of the program on the last night and sounded better than he did 35 years ago! It was great seeing Lou Killen too; he sang and played very well. We talk on the phone often but it was great to be in the same room with him again after 2 years.

The Scots trio, Harestane, were brilliant. Fiddle, accordion and whistle and all 3 were fine fine singers. Of the shanty groups, we particularly enjoyed Stormalong John of the Liverpool Maritime Museum who sang with great gusto and a deep love of the music.

Bob Conroy and I did nine 30 to 45 minute spots in 3 days and did a lot of singing on the sidelines too. We are hoarse as can be this morning.

One of the other highlights for us was the hour and a half we spent gabbing with John Conolly, author of Fiddler's Green and a delightful gentleman.

I would recommend this festival, which happens every Easter, to everyone.

All the best,
Dan Milner
