If GST (sales tax) was all, I wouldn't worry about the cost difference, but a 250 g can of Diamond salted (or flavored) almonds costs up to $5.00, whereas a 1 kg package or raw almonds is usually less than $10.00. Cost is cut in half.

True, michealr, very easy to vary the spice. A son likes them honey-flavored; I would have to experiment, but I found this video which I haven't tried yet (there are others on the net).
