Microsoft provide (free) viewers for Powerpoint files. The most recent one (PP Viewer 2007) supports all versions from 97 up to 2007, but looks as if it doesn't support ME (only versions beyond 2000SP4, XP/SP1, Vista).
The previous viewer (I think!) PP Viewer 2003 handles versions from 97 to 2003 and does work under ME.
You can have a look and see if this one opens your file.
