The eclectic mix of music and interests that are represented at the Getaway is such an opportunity for dillitantes like me to listen, learn and enjoy. It is so much fun when the mixing and matching of the different branches start up in the jams and song circles, and the common root begins to emerge.

The atmosphere of acceptance, encouragement, support and respect for what each person brings to share musically is the hallmark of this wonderful event. It not just a celebration of folk music. It is a celebration of the music in every person, and an invitation to each person to allow the music in each of us to find it's way into the world.

Oh, and Amos does have a brand new Tilley hat, the exact model as last year, only nice and shiny and new. He did not, however, drop it into the waters of West River to see if it really does float....nor his guitar either.
