Well, I was pleased to pick up a copy o Elizabeth LaPerelle's most recent CD Lizard In The Spring", yup, that was a highlight in it's self. The most enjoyable time I had was singing with Ken Shatz, espically during the concert when we did "Ol Dollar Mammy" a prison worksong. Amos's rendition of Richard Thomson's "Vincent 52" was great, would've had RT green with envy. It was so nice to see & hear so many West/Left Coasters this yr. Loni, Amos, Joe, got to meet & hear Claire who should've meet & sang 25 yrs ago & espically Slyvia who I did know & sing with 25yrs ago, she's always a joy to see & hear, as many found out. It seemed that quite a few new singers were getting their feet wet which is great to hear & the amount of fine musicians & singers is always staggering & surprizing when you (or me anyway) think that it can't get better & it does, excepting for the food, maybe but I for one wasn't expecting much on that front anyway & from the pictures I've seen I can stand to lose the weight.
It was a bit thin with Mudcatter's (wimps, all of ya) but it was no worst because of it, for sure, the Maryland crowd is most welcoming & talented that the missing were not lost as their spirits were there with the rest of us. Fancy, Nancy King with a now 3rd generation of cuties attending , Nancy you're one lucky doll with that troop of yours. I don't know why Kendall, with hardly a voice, had such strong reservations about going? Kendall, the rest of us mere mortals come in both arms dragging in whatever it is we're armed to the teeth with & all vocals greased & lubed & you walk in with a coat & no matter what the rest of us did from that moment on it was all for not, we couldn't get the attention of a hungry flea & you get both sexes pawing you from head to toe. Where'd you say you got that jacket, I think I'll be needing one myself or maybe it's just the way you wear it.
Anyway it was a great time & the only thing I'll do different is come a day sooner & stay a day or 2 later & ring some extra morsals to nibble on.
