There are several recorded versions of this song in both Irish and English. Onbe of my favourite recent(ish) recordings in English is from Liam Murphy from Ennis.

This is a totally different song from Dónal agus Mórag - the air to the song on the Altan album quoted above was written fairly recently by the late Pronnsias ó Maonaigh (Mairéad's father). It is also not the major song featured in "The Dead" - which was "The Lass of Aughrim" - a version of "Lord Gregory", although there may have been some reference to Dónal Óg in either the story or the film, neither of which I've seen recently.

Dónal Óg is one of the major gaelic songs and has a number of translations, of which Frank O Connor's is my personal favourite.
