I think it comes from being in New York ... a kinda' "better than any simple hick place" attitude. Then again, maybe it was a Shit Out and he Yankees were stoked up on Corned Beef and Cabbage. Or maybe a passing airliner dumped the storage tank over the stadium and they WERE in fact Shit Out of the place.
