Oh this is horrible. Thank heavens for your mom that she has you to support her during this crisis, and I am glad she finally was able to get herself out of the awful situation - well it sounds like she is not completely extricated yet, but she is at least physically removed from the abusive household. The actions (or rather lack of action) on the part of the Washington police department is disheartening - one would have thought that with increased public awareness of domestic abuse (it is or should be known to the police that a woman is in the greatest danger when she leaves an abusive relationship) the police would have offered more support.
