Good luck to you. Leaving is the most dangerous time, and that is why many stay longer than they know they should.
I was about to post that you should go to the local news reporters on tv, radio and newspaper to put the screws on the legal system to do the right thing, but in your last post it looks like you will get the vehicle by reposession, so you won't have to drag it all out in public.
If you will never be back to that town again, I would report the story to the news so the next time someone has to leave a batterer, law enforcement will hopefully take it more seriously.
