If this guy is going to do something I would feel happier that Tami and her mother had a couple of big guys along for protection since the police don't want to be bothered. Extra bodies will give him the message that he can no longer marginalise his former victim and, in common with a lot of DV bullies, he's likely to back off and leave them alone.

Contacting the papers would be done to make the police feel uncomfortable, not the offender in this case. There is certainly a need to raise a stink in that department right now.

Tami tells me that the cat has gone feral and seems to be OK. Otherwise I would agree with LTS - Diana would not have felt happy leaving probably what was her only friend with the abuser.
