Although things didn't work out as well as could have been hoped (i.e. recovery of the car, documents, valuables, etc.) the positive aspect is that your mom got out of the relationship and will be putting a considerable distance between herself and the abuser. This is the most important thing - now she can begin healing and getting back on her feet. She is very, very fortunate to have a daughter like you that is helping her!
