I met Gene at two of the singarounds at Saddleworth Folk Festival 2006 and heard a unique sound. We are all quite different with our talents and expectations. I remember watching Gene, as he listened intentley to other performers, and being quite surprised at the sound he himself produced. I remember thinking he must be tense and nervous. Maybe not technically perfect - but a considered and practised delivery. Good luck to the lad. I'd be happy to listen again.
