I once had to pay back takes on a car I hadn't seen for 10-15 years when I tried to sell my Mother's house, as my ex-wife had simply allowed it (the car) to sit in a field, and the county placed a lien on any preperty I had my name on to collect taxes on a dead car. Laws differ in various states, but it is well to know the rules.
