I have been on a NYC subway when a well dressed black man in a suit fell unconscious. His wire glasses bent against the floor and his briefcase fell as his body rolled back and forth across the aisle as the train took curves for about 30 seconds. People looked away and feigned ignorance. I was the only person to break out of the group conformity and went to his aid and eventually pulled the emergency cord.

Again the group dynamic of conformity was to do nothing.
