No fiddle here, just a home made electric bass with a hand painted top by my (then) 7 year old of the sun rise/set over water. 'Often hang colourful bandanas from my guitars or straps in hot weather for the practical purpose of having something with which to wipe my hands and guitar. Another daughter made some lovely braids which hang from my oldest and dearest strap. Sentimental, eh! Don't think this is a regional affectation (I'm in Ontario), just some thing that happened.
