The Dandelion was introduced to this continent as a pot-herb, grown in gardens as food. Nettles were also grown deliberatly at times as food. Chicory is another former garden plant that is a "weed" in North America. In fact many of the roadside "weeds" were formerly grown and/or introduced to this continent as garden plants.
