There used to be Safeway here in Texas. You can still "see" them from their old footprint and stone fronts around the area. Can almost see the old yin/yang logo where they hung on the wall. They closed a long time ago now. They're still operating up in Washington, along with K-Mart, which we also lost a while back. Albertson's is perilously close to going away, it was purchased by someone else but is still called Albertson's for now. Not that I love Albertsons, but it is the store that has always had the proximity factor in its favor for about the last 25 years.
