CarolC - As far as I know the Belgians in general are not complaining. It's just the ultra-right. In the June elections, Vlaams Belang (Flemish) had 12% and National Front (Walloon) had 2% of the votes for the Senate and Chamber of Deputies.

None of the other parties have any opposition to immigration.

And, taking Poppagator's point, 68% of migrants are from other EU countries, leaving less than 4% of the population from outside the EU.

As in most countries, the fear of immigration is based on a totally false perception of the figures.
