This is very sad news, indeed. First, because he was so young. Second, because prostate cancer is so often treatable and survivable, even in later years, if diagnosed early.   And also because I really enjoy so much of Dan's music and appreciate his poetry and musicality, even though he hasn't been considered "cool" since the early '80s.    Not every song of his was a classic, of course, but I do think he left behind a few timeless songs.

By the way, as we're now in the Christmas season, I really recommend checking out Dan's Christmas album, which I discovered about a year ago.   It has some very traditional Christmas songs, such as "This Endris Night" (beautiful), some wonderful instrumentals, and a couple of very nice original Christmas songs.   One of the nicest Christmas albums I've discovered in recent years.
