A dallyman was brought into the Emergency Room, minus his thumb like so many dallymen are. Doc asked what happened, the guy said, "Just took my dally and didn't git ma thumb outa the way in time."

Doc said, "So where's the thumb? Maybe we can sew it back on for you."

Man said, "She flew right up inta the air and the dog ate it."

"My God, man!" exclaimed the doctor. "Why didn't you shoot the dog and try to retrieve the thumb??"

"Best blue heeler we ever had," replied the cowboy.
