I think that our government has some pretty damn strange rules for dealing with Saudi Arabia in any event.

As I understand it, most, if not all, of the 9/11 suicide terrorists were Saudis. So to get retribution for the attack, we went to war in Afganistan and Iraq - but continued to call Saudi Arabia an "ally."

I think the point is that the administration will do nearly anything to keep from p***ing off the Saudis, probably because they don't want to risk losing the oil. Ignoring their treatment of women is just one instance.

Or so it seems to me.
