Re: broadsides taken from oral sources. This is not uncommon. In one of the versions of Reynardine I have on broadside, the printer has set:

"Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips,
the lass of Firmadie"

Instead of

"Her rosy cheeks and ruby lips,
they lost their former dye"

Clearly, he was transcribing from an oral source.
